The vision poster is based on the school mural in the playground which is entitled 'Share the World'. At St. Joseph's Primary School we value all our pupils, irrespective of their differing backgrounds, as important members of our school community.
The Board of Governors and Staff of St. Joseph's Primary School are firmly committed to promoting the spiritual, academic, social, physical, and aesthetic development of all our children. St. Joseph's Primary is a Catholic co-educational school situated in Holland Drive, Ballyhackamore, East Belfast just off the Upper Newtownards Road and adjacent to the parish church of St. Colmcille. The age range of our pupils is 4-11 years and there are presently 385 pupils in the school in 14 classes.
In addition to the full range of Learning Areas outlined in the NI Primary Curriculum document, the school offers a range of activities which contribute positively to a broad and balanced curriculum. Pupils enjoy swimming lessons, instrumental tuition, class educational trips, visiting professionals, links with neighbouring schools and a variety of after-school clubs. The school facilities include interactive whiteboards and ipads, a large main hall, a library/computer suite, an outdoor resource area and separate play areas for the Foundation and Key Stage groups which includes picnic tables, climbing walls, and a range of educational games and activities.
St. Joseph's also offers a pre and after school facility run within the school grounds. This offers the children a breakfast club before school and a range of games and activities after school coordinated by the Sleepy Hollow Group.
St. Joseph’s is a very happy, friendly school which adopts a positive approach to learning and discipline, encouraging and rewarding effort and good behaviour. The school values a strong partnership with our parents and there is a thriving Parents’ Association who organise social and fundraising events during the year. In our playground there is a wall mural depicting children and animals dancing round the world with the theme ‘Share the World.’ That is also our vision – to welcome all pupils into our school and share with them the joy, friendship, learning and caring that exists in St. Joseph’s Primary School.
